Swim Team
The Bayside Barracudas
Our swim team, the Bayside Barracudas, is a healthy and fun summer
activity for kids who can swim 50 yards continuously. The team was
established more than 50 years ago. Ten years ago there were only 35
kids on the team. In 2019, we had more than 100 kids. Over the past decade, several
other local pools have formed their own teams, making it more fun to
compete at swim meets.
The Bayside Swim Team is a recreational team. Its goals are to have
children develop an appreciative understanding of competitive swimming in
a nurturing environment. The team is open to both members and non-members.
If you can swim 25 yards and want to learn to do more—you're welcome to
join us!
We are a teaching swim team. We'll teach you everything you need to know.
We'll teach you how to swim faster, how to swim all the strokes, how to dive
off the starting blocks, and how to do flip turns. We'll teach you what you
need to do at a swim meet and how to get your best time on your swim. And if
you're already an experienced swim teamer—we'll challenge you, refine your
strokes, and make sure you work hard and have fun at the same time. All
experience levels are welcome.
Come join the fun and learn how great it is to be on the Bayside Swim
Team.
Parents—don't worry—we'll teach you too! We'll need your help at our swim
meets. We'll make sure to have enough volunteers so that you'll never miss
cheering for your swimmer.
Tuesday, June 27th, 8:00-10:00pm: Entire families can bring their
swim suits and jump right in. We'll meet the coaches, share more detailed
team information, order optional team suits, goggles, sweats, and t-shirts,
and go for a swim! This will be a potluck. Families are encouraged to bring
appetizers and deserts to share.
